DLS-CSB to host global industrial design confab on June 27-30

WIDD_Poster The event is an international celebration pinned alongside the World Design Organization?s recognition of the discipline of design in which Benilde is the country?s sole educational institution member. The event also collaborates with other design schools, companies, and design labs in the country, and will be held at the School of Design and Arts Campus from June 27 to 30, at the SDA Theater and 12F Cinema. The program will also feature creative works from ID schools outside Benilde, and the weeklong event will feature talks from notable designers like Aisa Mijeno (SAlt Lamp) Arch. Liza Crespo (Sustainability in Architecture), Patrick Quinay (Electric Transportation), John Tan (Vacuum Forming Technology), designer Lito Bu?ag, to product and furniture designers Stanley Ruiz, Rachelle Dag?alan, and Lilliana Manahan. There will also be workshops on Arduino by SparkLab, Quick Brush Calligraphy (Kim Balbuena), and Product Photography (Johann Mangussad). WIDD2017 will also showcase UNBoxed, a one-day challenge on understanding and applying sustainable living through design, and is open to all schools and individuals. It is scheduled on June 28 and will feature a series of talks in the morning, and a hands-on product development in the afternoon. A cash prize awaits the winning team. The four-day event will be capped by a townhall assembly by Senior Industry Fellow Kenneth Cobonpue on the initiatives, updates, and future of the program. Admission is free.
