With Congress adjourning its session on Friday, June 5, an alliance of civil society groups has called on the immediate passage of the long-delayed Open Access bill once the legislature resumes work in July.
The Better Broadband Alliance (BBA) called on the Inter-agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID), through the DICT, to create a national strategy and plan of action to address various issues related to communications and data services.
The Better Broadband Alliance said it is particularly alarmed that the decline in the country's competitiveness is mainly caused by its poor ranking in "ICT adoption". The main culprit, it said, is the government’s use of analog policy in the digital age.
