DepDev launches Web application for SDG collaboration

The Department of Economic Planning and Development (DepDev) has launched the Stakeholder Partnership Accelerator for Convergence and Engagement (Space) Web application, a digital platform aimed at improving coordination and progress monitoring on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The platform was developed by DepDev’s Governance Staff with support from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the government of Canada.

According to the agency, Space is intended to provide a central venue for collaboration and to align with the “Build” component of the Voluntary National Review (VNR) cycle, which incorporates stakeholder input into SDG implementation.

DepDev secretary Arsenio Balisacan said the platform is expected to facilitate coordination among government agencies, civil society organizations, private sector representatives, academic institutions, and local communities.

It allows users to:

• Align initiatives across sectors and regions;
• Share data and resources;
• Mobilize partnerships and funding for SDG-related programs;
• Monitor and report progress on SDG indicators in real time.

UNDP’s resident representative noted that Space can serve as a tool to encourage joint participation in development planning, while the government of Canada underscored its support for digital governance and SDG monitoring initiatives.

DepDev said the launch of Space is part of its continuing efforts to integrate technology into development planning and to strengthen transparency and accountability mechanisms in implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
