Cris Concepcion, a technology and marketing executive who held leadership roles in banking, e-commerce, media, and telecommunications, has died due to stroke at the age of 54.
At the time his passing last Sept. 13, Concepcion was serving as first vice president and head of marketing and brand strategy at Metrobank, where he led brand and product marketing across the bank’s business units. He earlier headed the bank’s digital banking products and marketing group, launching Earnest.ph, a financial literacy and investment platform.
Before joining Metrobank, he was chief marketing officer of OLX Philippines, director of content and services at Samsung Electronics, and business unit head of TFC.tv at ABS-CBN, where he launched the network’s global online streaming platform.
Concepcion also served as head of sales and operations for Yahoo! Philippines, where he directed the company’s digital advertising business, and held senior positions at Advanstar Communications and NBCUniversal’s Healthology in the United States.
He began his career as a research biochemist before moving into digital media and technology, eventually becoming known for driving innovation and digital transformation in the organizations he led.
Born on December 14, 1970, Concepcion earned his degree in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from the University of the Philippines and his Doctor of Medicine from the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center. He took up his medical residency at New York Medical College.
