6 data center firms form alliance to bolster PH’s digital hub ambitions

Six major data center operators have joined forces to establish the Data Center Operators of the Philippines (DCPH), a new industry alliance aimed at promoting stronger infrastructure development, policy support, and collaboration to position the Philippines as a leading digital hub in Southeast Asia.

The founding members — Vitro Inc., ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (Philippines), YCO Cloud, Digital Edge Philippines, Digital Halo, and A-FLOW — formalized their partnership through a memorandum of understanding, committing to act as a unified voice for the local data center sector.

Together, the group represents a total capacity of 473 megawatts of IT power nationwide. The DCPH aims to engage with key stakeholders, including power producers, telecommunications firms, and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), to advance renewable energy adoption, enhance network connectivity, and push for policies supporting data localization and digital infrastructure growth.

One of DCPH’s central advocacies is the localization of government data — a policy the group argues is essential for national security and privacy protection.

The alliance cited models from Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia, where government data is required to be hosted within national borders.

Advocates say similar rules in the Philippines could strengthen data sovereignty, attract hyperscale and AI-related investments, and increase resilience in the country’s digital backbone.

Industry analysts note that as cloud computing and artificial intelligence adoption accelerate, demand for data center capacity continues to surge. The establishment of DCPH marks a coordinated effort among operators to address challenges such as high energy costs, renewable power access, and workforce readiness — factors seen as critical to the country’s competitiveness in the regional digital economy.

By aligning their efforts, the members of DCPH hope to ensure that the Philippines not only meets growing domestic digital infrastructure needs but also becomes a viable alternative hub for global tech and cloud service providers in Southeast Asia.
