A new batch of champions emerged at the Sen. Salipada K. Pendatun Memorial Cup held on Dec. 5 at the Forest Hills Golf & Country Club in Antipolo City as standout competitors from various divisions battled through tight rounds in one of the year’s most anticipated commemorative golf tournaments.
The event, hosted by the University of the Philippines Vanguard Inc., honored the legacy of the late statesman and UP Vanguard member Sen. Salipada K. Pendatun, Class of 1936.
Leading the winners in the Ladies Division was Jorgie Paragas, who claimed the championship over Jane Mercado, who finished runner-up.
In the Vanguard Division, Bobby Jordan ‘85 captured the top spot, outplaying Mike Mendoza ‘94.
The Men’s Class C category showcased another strong finish as Rod Villahermosa took the crown, edging out Ian Alvaera ‘02, who clinched runner-up honors.
In Men’s Class B, Gabriel Tuason emerged victorious against fellow contender Alvin Cagas, while Magic Ante delivered a standout performance to win the Men’s Class A title, outlasting runner-up Eugene Viudez.
This year’s Memorial Cup featured a full 8:00 a.m. shotgun tee-off using the Vanguard Scramble Format, with players receiving over ₱10,000 worth of tournament inclusions and merchandise vouchers, along with a chance to win premium hole-in-one prizes.
Among the hole-in-one items were a brand-new Hongqi H5 vehicle, a GetGo 2-seater golf cart, and a Marriott International Bali getaway package.
The annual tournament celebrates Sen. Pendatun’s contributions as a legislator, soldier, lawyer, and member of the UP Vanguard.
The UP Vanguard Inc. expressed gratitude to participants, sponsors, and supporters who helped keep the memorial tradition alive through competition and camaraderie on the fairway.
