Canon PH launches compact cinema camera EOS C50

Canon Philippines has introduced the EOS C50, a compact cinema camera that targets professional filmmakers and content creators who require high-quality production in a portable setup.

Unveiled during the launch event “The Next Big Scene,” the EOS C50 becomes the smallest and lightest model in Canon’s Cinema EOS line, offering up to 7K 60p internal RAW recording — a capability typically found in bulkier, high-end cinema units.

The model supports 3:2 Open Gate recording, enabling creators to use the full 7K sensor for greater flexibility in post-production.

It also features Simultaneous Crop Recording, which allows users to capture full 4K footage while recording a cropped 2K vertical or square video at the same time, a function tailored for multi-platform storytelling from documentaries to social media.

Filmmakers and digital creators in attendance were given hands-on access and demonstrations, highlighting how the device could simplify workflows for mobile productions.

Jian Liu, consumer information and imaging director for Canon Philippines, said the camera reinforces the company’s belief that Filipino storytellers shouldn’t be limited by equipment.

“No matter the format, Filipino filmmakers and content creators’ stories deserve cinema-quality production,” he said.

“We’ve packed cinema-grade technology into a camera built for versatility, ensuring technical limitations don’t dictate which stories get told.”

The Canon EOS C50, bundled with an XLR handle, is priced at ₱189,998 and is now available through Canon’s authorized dealers and website.
