Xiaomi PH unveils 17 Series flagship phones

Smartphone maker Xiaomi has launched its new flagship Xiaomi 17 Series, introducing the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra models with upgraded cameras, new processors, and larger batteries.

The two devices continue Xiaomi’s partnership with German camera maker Leica, with the company highlighting improvements in mobile photography and videography.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra features a redesigned body measuring 8.29mm thick and weighing 218.4 grams, while the standard Xiaomi 17 comes in a slimmer 8.06mm profile and weighs 191 grams.

Both models use the company’s Xiaomi Guardian Structure, which combines Xiaomi Shield Glass with an aluminum alloy frame and is rated to provide 30% better drop resistance compared with the Xiaomi 15 Ultra.

Photography remains a central focus of the new series. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra introduces what the company said is the first 1-inch LOFIC main camera sensor in a smartphone, paired with a Leica 200-megapixel camera and mechanical optical zoom that can extend up to 400mm.

The phones also use Leica’s UltraPure optical lens treatment designed to improve image quality across different lighting conditions.

In addition to still photography, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra supports video recording with Dolby Vision and ACES Log at up to 4K resolution and 120 frames per second. The base Xiaomi 17 uses a Light Fusion 950 image sensor with a dynamic range of 13.5EV.

For users interested in mobile photography, Xiaomi is also offering a Xiaomi 17 Ultra Photography Kit accessory that includes a customizable two-stage shutter button and a dedicated video button that connects via Bluetooth.

Both models are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 mobile platform, which includes Qualcomm’s Oryon CPU, Adreno GPU, and Hexagon NPU designed to handle AI processing, gaming, and other demanding tasks.

Battery capacity has also been increased. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra comes with a 6,000mAh battery supporting 90W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. The Xiaomi 17 carries a 6,330mAh battery with support for 100W wired charging.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is available in Black, White, and Starlit Green with 512GB of storage and an official retail price of ₱99,999.

Xiaomi said online pre-orders are priced at ₱84,999 and come with a free Xiaomi Watch 5 and the Photography Kit.

The Xiaomi 17 comes in Black, Venture Green, Alpine Pink, and Ice Blue. The 512GB variant is priced at ₱55,999 with a pre-order price of ₱53,999, while the 256GB model retails for ₱53,599 with a pre-order price of ₱49,999. Pre-orders include a Xiaomi Watch S4 41mm.

According to the company, customers who pre-order the Xiaomi 17 will also have a chance to win a Leica Q3 camera valued at ₱417,000, along with bundled perks such as temporary subscriptions and device service benefits.
