Globe ranks among world’s strongest telco brands; PH firms gain ground in global list

Philippine telecommunications firms are strengthening their global standing, with Globe Telecom breaking into the top 10 strongest telecom brands worldwide, according to the latest Telecoms 150 2026 report by Brand Finance.

The report shows that three Philippine telcos — Globe, Smart Communications, and PLDT — are now among the world’s top 100 strongest telecom brands, reflecting continued growth in the country’s digital sector.

Globe climbed five places to rank as the 10th strongest telecom brand globally, posting a Brand Strength Index (BSI) score of 86.4 out of 100 and an AAA rating.

Its brand value rose 5% to $1.4 billion, alongside gains in mobile and fiber broadband services, including a 35% increase in fiber subscribers.

Smart, the wireless unit of PLDT, made one of the biggest jumps in the rankings, rising 22 spots to become the 31st strongest telecom brand after improving its BSI score to 80.9.

PLDT also remained in the top 100 strongest list and posted double-digit brand value growth, with its brand value reaching $1 billion.

The company climbed to 83rd in overall brand value rankings, driven by stronger revenues from data, wireless, and home broadband services.

Meanwhile, Converge ICT Solutions re-entered the global rankings at 138th, with its brand value increasing 19% to $299 million, supported largely by its residential broadband business.

Overall, six Philippine telecom brands were included in the Telecoms 150 list, with TM and TNT also making the rankings.

Brand Finance said the gains reflect broader trends in the local telecom sector, including rising Internet usage, smartphone adoption, and demand for digital services.

“Philippine telecoms brands are proving that the country’s digital momentum is being driven not just by network expansion, but by their ability to innovate around fiber, mobile data, and customer-centric digital services,” said Alex Haigh, managing director for Asia Pacific at Brand Finance.

“The brand strength and brand value gains made by Globe Telecom, Smart, PLDT, and Converge signal a sector that is shifting from infrastructure investment to value creation, strengthening the Philippine position as an emerging leader in Southeast Asia’s digital economy.”

Globally, the total value of the top 150 telecom brands reached $741.8 billion in 2026, with Deutsche Telekom retaining its position as the most valuable telecom brand worldwide.
