Converge CEO and co-founder Dennis Anthony Uy will talk about how fiber technology helped uplift broadband connectivity in the Philippines at the forum of optical fiber company Yangtze Optical Fiber and Cable (YOFC), entitled “All Optical Connectivity with New Value”.
The company’s flagship FiberX 1500 plan now has 300 Mbps, an upgrade from 200 Mbps. Converge previously upgraded the plan in June 2022 from 50 Mbps to 100 Mbps, and again in November 2022 from 100 Mbps to 200 Mbps.
According to the monthly measure produced by Netflix -- recording which ISPs provide the best prime time Netflix streaming experience -- Converge ranked No. 1 with a speed of 3.0 Mbps in December 2023, together with a local service provider.
Fiber broadband firm Converge ICT and wireless operator Dito Telecommunity pulled off a surprise on Thursday, Jan. 11, when they announced in a press event in Taguig City that they have signed a “landmark” agreement that will allow the two companies to share select terrestrial and submarine fiber-optic cable assets.
Fiber broadband provider Converge ICT Solutions posted a 7% increase in consolidated revenues to P26.25 billion at the end of September 2023 compared to the same period last year amid an expansion in its residential customer base, surpassing the 2-million mark to 2,048,286.
The companies said the MOU signifies the parties' intent to further strengthen cooperation in the enterprise optical network field on the basis of further exploring successful areas of collaboration in home broadband services, and aiming to jointly promote industry intelligence in the Philippines.
The DICT awarded Converge the contract to supply free Wi-Fi connectivity to 36 municipal sites in Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte and four municipal sites in La Union.
