The Land Bank of the Philippines said it will be working with the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) and the Department of Science and Technology-Advanced Science and Technology Institute (DOST-ASTI) for the integration of space data and analytics to its financing strategies for the agriculture sector.
The Iloilo Ground Receiving Station (GRS), the most recent addition to the country's space infrastructure, has successfully communicated with the Diwata-2 microsatellite, thereby furthering the country's long-term objective of expanding its nascent space technology sector.
The BSP, PhilSA, and DOST-ASTI recently kicked off the test deployment of satellite Internet service provider iOne Resources Inc. at the Progressive Bank of Malvar and Rural Bank of Cuenca.
The DOST said the satellite project allows for the identification of ships and the locations they have visited -- information that is useful in guarding the country’s territorial waters against illegal vessels.
Dr. Franz Asunta de Leon, also an associate professor at UP Diliman- Electrical and Electronics Engineering Institute, earned his PhD in Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the University of Southampton in United Kingdom in 2014.
The data collected by the Kooha app are used to draw out insights and generate new knowledge and technologies that can be used across sectors, the DOST-ASTI said.
The Philippines may soon expand its electronics testing market to the US as the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) recognized recently the testing capabilities of the DOST’s Electronics Product Development Center (EPDC).
