PLDT and Globe Telecom are positioning their data centers, cloud platforms, and cybersecurity services to support government agencies following the issuance of Executive Order No. 119, which imposes residency requirements on highly sensitive government information.
Lawyer Russell Stanley Geronimo cautioned, however, that while the order institutionalizes local data-storage requirements, it does not necessarily insulate government information held by US cloud service providers from lawful disclosure demands issued by foreign authorities.
