The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is developing a DNA database for Philippine timber species to help authorities identify illegally sourced wood and verify forest products whose physical characteristics have been altered by processing.
The project by the DOST and DENR aims to quickly and accurately identify selected wood species through a Wood Identification Mobile Phone Application using Android OS.
