Senate Bill No. (SBN) 1846 seeks to protect consumers and merchants engaged in Internet transactions through the creation of the Electronic Commerce (eCommerce) Bureau.
Senate Bill No. (SBN) 1846 or the proposed Internet Transactions Act. calls for the establishment of the "E-Commerce Bureau" under the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) which shall have authority over activities conducted over the Internet.
E-commerce platforms such as Lazada, Shopee, and Facebook Marketplace can be held solidarily liable for selling illegal products like SMS blast machines under the proposed Internet Transactions Act, according to Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian.
