According to a 2022 study, there are 20% (or an estimated two million) Filipino children aged 12-17 who were subjected to online sexual abuse and exploitation.
In the Philippines, the top five most popular apps and websites for Filipino children are YouTube (29.40%), TikTok (14.47%), Messenger (13.51%), Roblox (8.71%), and Facebook (8.50%).
Under the campaign, kids will learn how to code in a fun and interactive manner using characters from popular cartoon programs such as Ben 10, Adventure Time, The Powerpuff Girls, and We Bare Bears.
The startup company, Ritmo Learning Lab, tagged the project as JoomaJam, a kid-tested, teacher-approved fun manual and OPM music album currently available through iBooks for iPad and iPhone apps, and soon for Mac desktops, mobile, and Android.
