Re-electionist senator Sherwin Gatchalian took note of a recent incident relayed in a newspaper column on how a housewife's credit card was charged P1.7 million after her SIM card was replaced by fraudsters to underhandedly carry out online credit card transactions.
The operator said SIM swap scam is the latest scheme being carried out by scammers wherein the perpetrators take over an individual’s financial accounts such as bank accounts, e-wallets, and credit cards.
