Amid the decline, Globe is calling on mobile users to remain vigilant amid emerging scam schemes that evade cellular networks, including the use of chat apps and fake cell towers that are able to send messages without telco detection.
Scam calls and messages are becoming alarming issues in the Philippines, causing financial losses and distress for many, said Manwoo Joo, chief operating officer of Gogolook, which developed the Whoscall app.
These types of mobile malware get into computers through infected attachments, manipulated text messages or fake websites and can read passwords, record keyboard strokes or take the entire computer hostage.
