MSI holds gaming contest for 3rd year

For the third time in as many years, tech firm MSI is holding a gaming event called ?MSI Beat It! 2013: Overdrive Reloaded? on August 30 to 31 and September 1 at SM City North EDSA.

The competition is the local version of a global gaming event of MSI of the same title.

More than 300 players are expected to attend the event as they fight for their share of the more than P500,000 cash, hardware, and gaming gear prizes.

MSI, in cooperation with international gaming team Fnatic, is hosting a global event that allows gamers from all over the world to share their passion for CS:GO.

Meanwhile, the Philippines is on the lookout for its representative to the Southeast Asia qualifier who will be flown to Shanghai, China by MSI for a chance to compete in the Global Grand Finals and fight for the $10,000 that will go to the grand champion.

One team will walk away P50,000 richer courtesy of Massive Gaming as the Third-Person Shooter League?s mission to find the best team in Mercenary Online comes to a close.

PvP players are also in for a treat from Cherry Credits for the first-ever ?King of the Arena? who will take home P30,000.

The event?s roster of official tournament titles also includes DOTA 2, Avatar Star and Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm. Other featured tournaments are the TNC Students League organized by TNC Gaming and the Assault Fire Pro Tour Qualifier organized by Mineski.

Returning to the MSI stage is Eri Neeman a.k.a. Boy Back-up who will be co-hosting Days 2 and 3 together with Internet sensation Donnalyn Bartolome. Joining them on September 1 is another online personality, rapper Shehyee.

H4nn1 and Trixi from Fnatic DOTA 2?s squad, fresh from their stint at The International 3, will grace the event for an exhibition match with Philippines? own DOTA 2 all-stars. Following the same concept as NBA?s all-star, the DOTA 2 all-star features the ten best local players as voted by the community.

To spice things up, the Fnatic members will also engage in a 2v2 show match against the best local duo.

Cosplayers of any game are welcome to the event, but it will be the Best Dragon Nest or Avatar Star cosplayer who will be the event?s biggest cosplayer winner of P10,000.

For the first time, local gamers can also get their hands on the upcoming MSI GS70 Stealth, the world?s thinnest and lightest 17? gaming notebook measuring less than 0.86 inch and weighing in at a mere 6 lbs.

In collaboration with Simulation Racing Pilipinas and Techsim, the ?Beat Me If You Can: Time Attack Challenge? activity will allow participants to experience simulation racing, a non-conventional racing game with real driving physics and real racing rules.

To enhance the sim racing experience, the demo will feature triple screens powered by MSI GX60, currently the only gaming notebook that can handle the Eyefinity set-up.

As a treat to real gamers, for a limited time, MSI will be bundling the SteelSeries Kinzu V2 gaming mouse with MSI Z87 gaming series motherboards and videocards. The bundle will be available in authorized MSI resellers until September 15, 2013.

Taking the rig modding competition to another level, MSI will host a LAN party for all qualified participants where rig owners are not only encouraged to make their set ups look good, but also ensure that they can play their preferred game against each other at the event for non-stop LAN partying.
