DILG, NICP to award best ICT projects of LGUs

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines (NICP) will once again recognize best local government projects that use ICT to effectively deliver public service.

The 2nd eGOV Awards for Local Government Units (LGUs) is dubbed ?Jesse Robredo Award of Excellence in ICT for Good Governance? in honor of the well-loved DILG secretary who approved the concept in 2012, just two months before to his untimely demise.

In November 2012, several local government units were awarded for their ICT projects and programs during the 5th NICP National ICT Summit in Sta. Rosa, Laguna hosted by the Laguna ICT Council.

The eGov Awards is has two categories: Best in eGov Customer Empowerment (G2C) and Best in eGov Business Empowerment (G2B).

The annual recognition also seeks to commend and collate the best practices of LGUs in integrating ICT in their processes to serve as example and benchmarks to other LGUs, said Jocelle Batapa-Sigue of the Bacolod-Negros Occidental Federation for ICT (BNEFIT), and chair of eGOV Awards 2013.

The awarding ceremony will be held on November 29, 2013 at the Bohol Tropics Resort Hotel in Tagbilaran City, Bohol, which expects more than 60 local government units to be represented, along with representatives from various local line agencies, colleges and universities, and companies.

Various ICT Councils and LGUs from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will converge to review, evaluate, plan, and share best ICT practices.
