Metrobank announces finalists in math challenge

The Metrobank Foundation has announced the schools which made it to the national finals of the Metrobank-MTAP-DepEd Challenge (MMC).

The Metrobank Foundation together with the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Mathematics Teachers Association of the Philippines (MTAP) are partners in the MMC to be held March 14 at the Metrobank Plaza Auditorium.

First Metro Investment Corporation (FMIC) is also one of the sponsors.

Out of the more than 1,200 elementary and high school students all over the country who competed in the regional finals nationwide, 53 students successfully advanced to the final leg of the competition.

This year?s national finalists will come from 34 schools composed of 18 public and 16 private schools.

?We take pride in staging this competition as it brings together once again the country?s finest students, and this time having more finalists from the public schools? said MBFI president Aniceto Sobrepe?a. ?As early as now, we extend our congratulations to our dear students for reaching this far in the competition,? he continued.

The top schools competing for the?Grade 6 Individual Competition?are: Placido del Mundo Elementary School (Quezon City); St. Jude Catholic School (Manila); Baguio City SPED Center; St. Paul College (Ilocos Sur); Philippine Yuh Chiau School (Cabatuan, Isabela); De La Salle ? Lipa; Bicol University Integrated Laboratory School (Daraga, Albay); University of St. La Salle (Bacolod City); Zamboanga Chong Hua High School and Davao Christian High School.

For?Grade 6 Team Competition,?the competing schools are: Taguig Elementary School; Grace Christian College (Quezon City); BHC Educational Institution, Inc. (San Fernando City, La Union); San Beda College (Taytay, Rizal); Sunshine International School (Daraga, Albay); Trinity Christian School (Bacolod City); Philippine Christian Gospel School (Cebu City); St. Mary?s School (Cagayan de Oro City); New Corella Central Elementary School (New Corella, Davao del Norte); and Butuan City SPED Center.

For the?4th?Year Individual Competition, schools competing are: Dalandanan National High School (Valenzuela City); Uno High School (City of Manila); Don Ramon E. Costales Memorial National High School (Villasis, Pangasinan); Cauayan City National High School (Cauayan City, Isabela); Mariano Ponce National High School (Baliuag, Bulacan); Statefields School, Inc. (Bacoor City); Gallanosa National High School (Irosin, Sorsogon); Philippine Science High School ? Western Visayas (Iloilo City); Zamboanga Chong Hua High School; Tagum City National High School (Tagum City, Davao del Norte); and Jacinto P. Elpa National High School (Tandag City, Surigao del Sur)

For the?4th?Year Team Competition,?schools competing are: Batasan Hills National High School (Quezon City); Valenzuela City School of Mathematics and Science; BHC Educational Institution, Inc. (San Fernando City, La Union); Nueva Ecija High School (Cabanatuan City); Cavite National Science High School (Maragondon, Cavite); Philippine Science High School ? Western Visayas (Iloilo City); and Zamboanga Chong Hua School.
