Aquino names new IPOPHL deputy chief

Pres. Benigno S. Aquino III has appointed Nelson P. Laluces as the new deputy director-general of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL).

Laluces, a lawyer, is a former chairman of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB). His appointment was signed by Aquino on July 11.

His term of office will expire on December 31, 2017.

He replaced Andrew Michael S. Ong, whose three-year stint at the agency ended last December.

Laluces had worked as partner in Ligon Solis Mejia Florendo Law Firm since January this year until his appointment.

He also worked as partner in Rodriguez Laluces Ecarma & Diaz Law Offices from November 2011 to October 2012 and 2000 to September 2010.

Aside from his tenure as LTFRB chairman from September 2010 until September 2011, he also held posts in the Department of Tourism from 1995 to 2000.
