Thakral One, one of the technology divisions of Singapore-based IT conglomerate Thakral Group, has announced the appointment of Sawfin Saw Buan as the country general manager for its Philippine operations.
The lady executive replaces IT veteran Teddy Sumulong, who has reportedly hooked up with Samsung Philippines as one of their top IT leads.
Despite her foreign-sounding name, Buan appears to be from the Philippines, having attended AMA Computer University for her Computer Science degree and Siena College Quezon City for her secondary education.
With a 12-year stint at software maker SAS Philippines, Buan counts business intelligence and analytics as her expertise. She also worked for IT outsourcing giant Accenture.
In the press statement announcing her appointment, the company made known of their new focus on business analytics, noting that the Philippines is predicted to clinch a $20-billion share in the estimated $160-billion global business analytics market in the next two years.

We have a strong consulting practice that can not only implement these solutions effectively, but also create the necessary underlying processes and capabilities that enable the most effective use of these tools,? Buan stated.
Bikram Singh Thakral, CEO of Thakral One, also said the statement that enterprise and mid-market clients in the Philippines are beginning to institutionalize data analytics as a core capability and are appreciating the value that insights can provide.
?It is, however, critical that business intelligence and analytics solutions don?t take forever to implement, and are modular in nature. We have assembled a specialized team with in-depth experience in enterprise performance management, business intelligence, predictive analytics and data warehousing,? he said.
Buan comes with extensive business and IT consulting experience in the banking and financial services, insurance and public sector domains, spanning business analytics, risk management and customer process improvement.
The Thakral One portfolio, meanwhile, includes IT infrastructure solutions and services, enterprise applications and long-term managed support to clients. In addition to business analytics solutions, the company also focuses on FSI solutions like core banking, security, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and other risk and regulatory solutions.
