By Tom Noda

G-Xchange Incorporated (GXI), the mobile commerce (m-commerce) subsidiary of local operator Globe Telecom, is expecting to grow the user base of its flagship service GCash after forging a partnership with a large business group.

Executives of G-Xchange and TORCHe Global Marketing seal their partnership with a handshake at the Globe Telecom Tower in Taguig City

GXI formally signed the partnership with marketing consultancy group TORCHe Global Marketing Inc. (TGMI) on Friday, Nov. 29, at the Globe Tower in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.

GXI executives said GCash will be offered to TGMI affiliate companies and organizations such as the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) and the Franchise Corporation of the Philippines (FranCorp), among others.

TGMI’s business involves helping companies reach out to the widest possible consumer base using latest technologies in mobile commerce and advertising.

Paolo Baltao, GXI president, said the partnership with TGMI will help bring in more users of GCash and reach other businesses who want to achieve the benefits of using money transfer services.

“This [partnership] will allow business establishments and affiliations to operate more efficiently and enjoy our innovative product portfolio,” Baltao said.

GCash services that will be made available for use of TGMI affiliates include the PowerPay+ Card, Buy Load Service, GCash outlets, and an upcoming payment solution that will enable business owners to accept credit card payments without the need for a traditional bank-issued POS terminal.

The PowerPay+ Card is a funds disbursement service linked to a Globe/TM SIM offered to organizations that traditionally disburse via cash and check. The Buy Load Service, meanwhile enables GCash users to become load re-sellers by buying airtime load using GCash with as much as 10 percent rebate.
