IBM PH chief gets Rotary Golden Wheel Award for S&T education

IBM Philippines president and country general manager Mariels Almeda Winhoffer was among the recipients of this year?s Rotary Golden Wheel Awards, conferred by Rotary International District 3780 and the Quezon City government.

As the leader of IBM Philippines, Mariels Almeda Winhoffer was recognized by the award-giving body for championing IBM?s commitment and contribution to the advancement of Science and Technology Education in the Philippines.

From early learning (KidSmart Early Learning Program), through primary (TryScience) and secondary education (eMentor, Computer Eyes), IBM?s approach is unparalleled in terms of innovation and inclusiveness.

In 2012, under her leadership, IBM created and championed the vision of making the Philippines the Global Center for Smarter Analytics. IBM collaborated with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to develop an Analytics Education Roadmap to enable the next generation of global Filipino talent.

2013 saw the adoption of the analytics curriculum in business adminstration and IT education courses by the country?s top universities and colleges.

Now on its second year, The Rotary Golden Wheel Awards honors worthy individuals who have shown passion, excellence and service on their respective fields of expertise while inspiring others.

The awarding ceremony was held recently at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Ortigas.
