The new smartphone model is an iteration of the Oppo F1 Plus, which was launched in March that featured a front-facing camera with more mega pixels (MP) than the rear-shooter.

The new Oppo F1s carries the same attribute as the Oppo F1 Plus — both sport 16MP for the selfie camera on the front and 13MP for the rear-shooter.

The F1s, a mid-ranger at P12,990, is ready for pre-selling by August 12-18, and should be in stores nationwide on August 19, according to Garrick Hung, Oppo operations manager.

At the launch event, Oppo Philippines and Home Credit Philippines, through its head of Sales Adam Bernasek, also announced the renewal of their partnership for the F1s for a zero-interest installment plans.

Bernasek said the company is thrilled to renew the partnership, expressing optimism that more Filipinos would be able to have “the best selfie phone in the world.”

Oppo Philippines brand manager Stephen Cheng reminded the audience of the control they can have with the F1s.

“It’s amazing how the F1s lets you capture selfies the way you want them to look,” he said. “We wanted to offer a phone that gives selfie lovers a satisfying photo experience, and I think the new model does just that.”

The F1s has add-ons like “Selfie Panorama mode and “Beautify 4.0” designed to automatically retouch one’s skin tone. It runs on Android OS v5.1, Lollipop, with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection.

With a 5.5-inch form factor, it runs on a Mediatek 6750 octa-core processor, and three gigabytes of RAM, 32GB internal storage, two dual standby nano-SIM, and fingerprint sensor, among others. It comes in gold, rose gold, and gray colors.

Oppo said its 3,075 mAh battery can last a day of casual gaming and doing social media.

Like previous Oppo units, the F1s uses the thin, rounded bezels and prominent white color of its predecessors. But other than that, the F1s has set itself apart.

“Oppo is serious in the Philippine market. We want to stay here,” Cheng said. “We’ll continue improve ourselves and face challenges. We will continue to work very hard. Hopefully sooner, we’ll become the Number 1 brand here in the Philippines.”
