Uniqlo unveils 2019 innerwear line with conditioning tech for changing weather

By Espie Angelica A. de Leon

Japanese global retailer Uniqlo unveiled its 2019 Spring/Summer AIRism line of innerwear with top-of-the-line comfort conditioning technology ideal for the Philippines? changing weather conditions.

Uniqlo marketing director Georgette Barrera Jalasco during the launch of the latest AIRism collection at the company’s Glorietta 5 branch in Makati City

Launched at the press room of Uniqlo?s Glorietta 5 branch, the new collection embodies the LifeWear commitment with clothing properties that allow for “breathability” and adjust the body?s comfort level to any weather condition or environment.

Innerwear items in the latest AIRism selection come in three types, namely the jersey, the mesh for active days, and the seamless for formal wear. Each item has a fine weave of micro-polyester fibers which easily disperse the sweat throughout the fabric even if sweat is concentrated merely on certain parts of the body such as the underarm. When scattered over a wider surface, sweat evaporates more quickly, thereby leaving the person feeling cooler and dryer.

The innerwear?s texture does not get in the way of comfort as these micro-polyester fibers feel smooth, silky, and cool on the skin.

The fabric is also equipped with properties for moisture absorption and removal, quick drying, heat release, and odor prevention.

Attesting to the sense of comfort that one experiences when wearing an AIRism piece of clothing is veteran wedding videographer Jason Magbanua.

Speaking at the launch, Magbanua shared that he covers weddings and receptions in all kinds of venues, from hotels to gardens, indoor or outdoor, in sunny or rainy weather.

White innerwear and a suit are part of his attire whenever he shoots. He gives respect to such events, he said, hence his attire.

?I have discovered the AIRism seamless,? he said. ?It?s like my second skin. I don?t want to be be this smelly videographer, the stinky videographer.?

An added convenience for all items ? whether men?s, women?s, children?s, or babies? innerwear — is the fabric?s elasticity which gives a good fit.

The new AIRism selection also added a UV-blocking property in women?s long sleeve T-shirts. The technology stops 90% of ultraviolet rays from reaching and harming the skin.

In addition, Uniqlo?s latest innerwear line is now offering 12 AIRism boxer brief patterns in the market.

?Our LifeWear pieces are designed to be timeless, innovative, and to be the building blocks of individual? style. We are constantly developing technologies and fabrics to bring better design and comfort to people?s lives,? said Uniqlo marketing director Georgette Barrera Jalasco.
