Sony Philippines has introduced in the Philippine market the RX0 II, which is said to be the world’s smallest and lightest premium compact camera.
Sony said the RX0 II can ably compete with its larger competitors and is set to redefine the extent of vlogging technology.
Just after its debut in Singapore, the RX0 II’s release was announced in an event held at Taguig City that was attended by online video content creators.
Despite its diminutive size, the camera can shoot high-quality videos on 4K at 30fps with electronic image stabilization (EIS).
Vloggers can now capture videos on the field without having to bring heavy equipment, as it’s even smaller than a phone. The LCD screen on the RXO II can also be tilted to 180 degrees, just like more expensive DSLRs in the market, or the selfie camera of smartphones.
“The brand took time to learn and understand the different needs of content creators when it comes to their cameras. Sony is in full effort to innovate and come up with products that are powerful and flexible enough to supply content creators with the right gear ? from starters to professionals, there is a Sony camera for you,” said Sony Philippines marketing director Hideyuki Wada.
The camera is the upgraded version of last year’s RX0, which did not have 4K recording capability, a tiltable screen, and EIS. This means that Sony wanted to veer towards front-facing videos for vloggers.
Despite these major changes, the RX0 II unit retains the 15.3-megapixel Exmor RS CMOS image sensor behind a f/4.0 ZEISS lens which achieves a shorter minimum focusing distance of 20 centimeters. Coupled with the Eye Autofocus that locks on human faces, the camera is handy when doing vlogs that prioritize human subjects.
Users will be happy to know that the camera has modular options for more professional shooting like an external microphone which is made possible by the appearance of a much-loved headphone jack, and a hand-held grip.
When it comes to the RX0 II’s durability aspect, its toughness can withstand up the weight of objects weighing 200 kilograms, can be dropped from a height of 2 meters, and can be submerged as deep as 10 meters.
For more hardcore camera fans, Sony also launched the A6400 mirrorless digital camera that features AI-powered Real-time Eye AF, new high-precision Real-time Tracking, high-speed continuous shooting, and 4K movie shooting.
Available in stores nationwide, the A6400 sells for P58,999.00 (with 16-50mm powerzoom) and P52,999.00 (for body only), while the RX0II is priced at P35,999.00.
