DigiPlus Interactive Corp., operator of online gambling platforms BingoPlus, ArenaPlus, and GameZone, has temporarily halted its Brazil operations just weeks after launching, saying it will refine its offerings based on insights from an initial soft rollout.
The move follows a three-week trial period that began on September 22, during which the company tested GamePlus —its first Brazilian brand — as part of its expansion into one of Latin America’s largest and fastest-growing gambling markets.
DigiPlus said the pause will allow it to “come back stronger” with a product tailored to Brazilian player preferences and cultural habits.
“We are taking the strategic step to pause GamePlus in Brazil so we can come back stronger with a digital entertainment offering that resonates deeply with Brazilian culture,” said DigiPlus chairman Eusebio H. Tanco.
“Our commitment is to quality and cultural resonance over speed. This temporary step back ensures the sustainability of our long-term vision in Latin America.”
The company’s entry into Brazil, announced earlier this year, came as DigiPlus faces mounting criticism at home over the social impact of online gambling.
Lawmakers in both chambers of Congress have filed bills seeking to restrict or ban such operations, and the company’s stock has recently come under pressure.
Despite this, DigiPlus has maintained that Brazil — whose online gambling market is estimated at around $4.6 billion, or roughly twice the size of the Philippines’ — remains a key growth opportunity.
The firm said its local team, headed by country manager Graham Tidey, will continue developing a fully self-produced lineup of games and digital entertainment content for a planned relaunch in early 2026.
