Mapúa taps CapCom, Prime Manpower to boost gaming, IP education

Mapúa University has partnered with CapCom Singapore and employment services firm Prime Manpower to strengthen training in gaming, digital content creation, and intellectual property (IP) development for Filipino students.

The partnership was formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed on January 26 at Mapúa’s Intramuros campus.

Under the agreement, the three organizations will jointly develop educational programs to be integrated into Mapúa’s existing curricula.

The initiative will cover technical and creative skills, as well as IP development, management, and commercialization.

The collaboration is expected to result in new curriculum designs, specialized lectures, and training programs aimed at preparing students for international careers with industry-relevant experience.

As part of the initial phase, students will participate in special sessions led by industry professionals, offering global perspectives on game development and digital media.

Existing courses in game development, multimedia design, business management, and IP management will also be enhanced through specialized modules from CapCom.

Mapúa said the partnership will also extend to its MapúaX microcredential programs, which provide short-term, industry-recognized certifications for working professionals and individuals seeking to reskill in gaming and digital IP fields.

Graduates of the program will gain access to employment opportunities facilitated by Prime Manpower, addressing workforce demand in the global gaming industry.

Mapúa president and chief executive officer Dr. Dojie Maestrecampo said the partnership would strengthen the university’s role in developing creative talent.

“The MOU signing represents a bold leap into the future of the Philippine creative economy. By aligning Mapúa’s century-long academic excellence with CapCom’s expertise and mastery of global hits, alongside Prime Manpower’s access to vast opportunities and direct pathways to the worldwide economy, we will definitely be providing students with an unprecedented competitive edge,” Maestrecampo said.
