Singtel-Globe tech venture expands PH workforce to 1,200

The Singtel Group is expanding its technology operations in the Philippines through NCS Philippines, a P1.87-billion joint venture between its technology services subsidiary NCS and Globe Telecom’s Yondu.

NCS Philippines has increased its workforce from 150 to more than 1,200 professionals, expanding its local capacity in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, cybersecurity, data analytics and software engineering.

The venture has an enterprise value of about $30 million and is being positioned as a Philippine delivery hub for technology services.

The expansion was discussed during a meeting between President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and business executives during his working visit to Singapore. Among those present were Singtel Group CEO Yuen Kuan Moon, Globe Telecom CEO Carl Cruz and Ayala Corp. vice chairman Fernando Zobel de Ayala.

Singtel also reiterated its continued support for Globe, in which the Singapore-based telecommunications company holds a stake.

Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) secretary Cristina Roque said the expansion reflected continued Singaporean investment in the Philippine technology sector.

“We highly value Singtel’s continued trust and investment in the Philippines. The growth of NCS Philippines from a boutique team to a 1,200-strong tech workforce is a prime example of how international partnerships can create high-value, quality jobs for our IT professionals. The DTI remains fully committed to supporting Singtel and its partners as they drive digital transformation and technological innovation in the country,” she added.

The government said policies such as the Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises to Maximize Opportunities for Reinvigorating the Economy Act, or CREATE MORE Act, the Strategic Investment Priority Plan and the Konektadong Pinoy Act were intended to attract further investment in technology infrastructure and digital services.
