The Quantum Computing Society of the Philippines (QCSP) will hold a conference in Cebu City from Nov. 9 to 11 to discuss how businesses and governments can prepare for quantum technologies, including their potential impact on cybersecurity.
QISTCon.ph 2026 will bring together researchers, government agencies, companies and international partners. Its sessions will cover quantum-safe systems, industry adoption, education and regional cooperation.
QCSP said organizations that handle sensitive data may need to prepare for a future in which advanced quantum computers could weaken widely used encryption.
The conference’s working groups will examine quantum governance, education and regional cooperation, with the aim of producing policy recommendations and technical guidance.
“No single country can build a quantum ecosystem alone. Southeast Asia needs shared standards, shared talent pipelines and shared policy coordination,” QCSP president Bobby Corpuz said.
“QISTCon 2026 strengthens those connections so the region can shape — not simply absorb — the impact of quantum technologies.”
The event follows an April workshop that examined potential uses and gaps in sectors including finance, energy, ICT, national security, disaster risk reduction and logistics.
QCSP said the conference will build on those discussions and on its first quantum conference in 2025, which drew 181 participants from 17 countries.
