Voltai debuts battery-swap EV system for two-wheel fleets in PH

Startup firm Voltai has launched its first two-wheeled electric vehicle, the AP01, and introduced a battery-swapping ecosystem aimed at fleet operators in the Philippines.

The company unveiled the vehicle and its mobile app during a pilot event at a Cleanfuel station in Pasig City, attended by representatives from logistics, food delivery, and ride-hailing firms.

Participants test rode the AP01, tracked battery data via the app, and swapped depleted batteries for fully charged ones in minutes — eliminating the need for lengthy charging times.

Voltai has partnered with Cleanfuel and MyTown to roll out 15 battery-swapping stations in key locations. The company plans to expand across Metro Manila and nearby provinces next year and provide after-sales support.

“As a business-to-business solution, Voltai aims to cut downtime, fuel costs, and maintenance expenses for fleet operators while offering real-time tracking,” said Fazlur Abdul Rahman, Voltai co-founder and CEO and head of ideation at 1882 Energy Ventures, the AboitizPower-backed incubator behind the startup.

Voltai’s model involves leasing its EVs and batteries for a fixed fee, allowing fleet businesses to manage costs and reduce emissions without large upfront investments.
