Ayala JV firm opens its first data center in PH

A-Flow, a joint venture between AyalaLand Logistics Holdings Corp. (ALLHC) and Singapore-based Flow Digital Infrastructure, has formally opened its first data center facility in the Philippines.

The facility, called ML1, is located in Biñan, Laguna — an emerging data center hub south of Metro Manila — and begins operations with a 6-megawatt (MW) IT load.

It is the first phase of a planned 36MW multi-building campus, which the company says is intended to serve cloud providers, enterprise clients, AI workloads, and colocation users.

A-Flow emphasized the site’s location in Laguna, an area outside major fault lines and flood zones.

ML1 is designed as a carrier-neutral facility and includes multiple network entry points for route diversity and redundancy.

Local officials noted the economic opportunity associated with the development. Biñan City mayor Angelo Alonte called the project an inflection point for the area’s digital industry, while representatives from the Laguna provincial government highlighted the availability of a large and skilled labor pool for emerging technology sectors.

The launch comes amid accelerating demand for hyperscale and enterprise data services in the country. Industry estimates show:

  • Southeast Asia data center demand is expected to triple between 2023 and 2030, according to Boston Consulting Group.
  • The Philippine market is projected to grow at a 20.9% CAGR until 2030, driven by increasing cloud adoption and data-intensive business applications, according to Research & Markets.

Department of Trade and Industry secretary Cristina Roque, who attended the launch, said the sector’s growth places the Philippines in a stronger position to participate in the regional digital economy.

ML1 is one of several large-scale data center investments announced in the Philippines over the last two years, as private developers respond to demand from cloud service providers, fintechs, e-commerce firms, and AI-based services that require low-latency processing capacity.

A-Flow said additional construction phases will continue at the Laguna site as demand scales.
