DENZA, a BYD-affiliated premium new energy vehicle brand, has formally entered the Philippine market with the launch of its flagship executive MPV — the D9 DM-i — positioning the model as a high-end electrified alternative in the luxury people-mover segment.
Adam Hu, country head of BYD and DENZA Philippines, described the local debut on Friday, Feb. 27, as the start of a broader rollout.
“Today marks an important milestone for DENZA in the Philippines. We are introducing a brand for individuals who seek a premium mobility experience — where innovation enhances comfort, every detail is carefully considered, and every journey feels refined and effortless. The D9 is just the beginning of our commitment to delivering this, and we look forward to expanding our presence in the months ahead,” Hu said.
The D9 DM-i is equipped with BYD’s Super DM-i plug-in hybrid system, pairing a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with dual electric motors. The setup produces up to 400 horsepower and 681 Nm of torque, with a top speed of 180 km/h.
DENZA said the all-wheel-drive MPV can deliver a combined driving range of up to 980 kilometers on a full tank and fully charged battery.
The vehicle uses BYD’s 40 kWh Blade Battery and is built on the company’s e-Platform 3.0 architecture. The battery is covered by an eight-year or 160,000-kilometer warranty.
Inside, the seven-seater MPV features Nappa leather upholstery across all three rows. The dashboard is dominated by a 15.6-inch central infotainment display, while rear passengers get dual 12.8-inch entertainment screens and a 14-speaker Dynaudio sound system.
Second-row passengers are fitted with zero-gravity seats offering power adjustment, adjustable headrests, extendable leg rests, and heating, ventilation, and massage functions.
Other cabin features include a built-in refrigerator, wireless charging, power sliding doors, and ambient lighting.
Owners can access remote functions such as vehicle monitoring, charging management, and location tracking through the DENZA mobile app.
Liu Xueliang, general manager of BYD’s Asia-Pacific sales division, outlined the brand’s positioning during the launch.
“DENZA was created to offer a new interpretation of modern mobility — where advanced electrification and elegant design come together to create meaningful experiences. The D9 represents that vision, and we are excited for Filipino customers to experience what the brand stands for,” he said.
The company also previewed additional models expected to expand its Philippine lineup, including the Z9 GT, B5, and B8.
The DENZA D9 DM-i is priced at ₱4,298,000 and is available in Whale Sea Blue, Cosmos Black, Arctic White, and Starry Night Grey.
