The Commission on Audit (COA) earlier flagged the Department of Information and Communications and Technology (DICT) for failing to distribute around P93-million worth of laptops and tablets that the Duterte administration had procured.
The COA made the recommendation after it found “misstatements” in the NPC’s record pertaining to national government agencies, office supplies inventory, and furniture and fixtures for the year 2020.
The DICT said the items were intended for the e-learning initiatives of LGUS and that the supplier, Lex-Mar, is a wholesaler of office supplies and office equipment although it is also engaged in the construction business.
The Anti-Red Tape Authority and Commission on Audit have given the go-signal to government agencies and LGUs to use the DICT’s digital signatures through the Philippine National Public Key Infrastructure (PNPKI).
Sen. Risa Hontiveros has called on the Commission on Audit to review the Department of National Defense's (DND) 2020 spending on cybersecurity in light of the agency's proposed P500-million fund for the same category in 2021.
