The Private Sector Advisory Council’s Digital Infrastructure Sector has urged Pres. Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to adopt a “One Canal Policy” that would require telecommunications and utility providers to share standardized infrastructure for fiber deployment.
In the first nine months of the year, PLDT also built 1.29 million additional fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) ports ,bringing total FTTH capacity to 5.9 million.
The pilot project implementation is scheduled on November-December 2018 to light up portions of the 6,154-kilometer dark fiber network of National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) and showcase high-speed internet to Government Network (GovNet) and Pipol Konek Free Wi-Fi in Public Places beneficiaries.
