Ride-hailing app Grab has announced that it is working with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), the Department of Transportation (DOTr), and property developer Megaworld Corporation to launch a pilot study on drone-powered commercial delivery in the Philippines.

Grab Philippines said the issue of supply during the holidays has put a strain on GrabCar drivers who had to be online for at least 7 hours per day -- with more than 90 percent of them driving for the majority of the week, just to serve the increased demand during the holidays.
Based on an initial assessment by the Philippine Competition Commission (PCC), Grab Philippines’ acquisition of its smaller rival Move It “likely did not breach” the thresholds for compulsory notification.
Grab Philippines said the pandemic created a serious imbalance in GrabCar's supply and demand condition, resulting in fewer GrabCar driver-partners on the road having to serve an increasing number of passengers.
Grab Philippines said passengers are not claiming their portions of the disbursed administrative fee since majority of them are entitled only for P1.00 – an amount that is not substantial enough for them to create a GrabPay wallet account and undergo the BSP-mandated KYC process.
