Senator Leila M. de Lima has joined the call to hold government officials and private contractors involved in the passport data mess at the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) accountable for their failure to protect people's personal data.
Although the "Free Internet Access in Public Places Act" has been passed in 2017, Senator Leila de Lima pointed out that there are still some people who do not enjoy free and easy access to Internet due to the geographic constraint, especially in the countryside.
In filing Senate Bill (SB) No. 1694, Sen. Leila de Lima said the criminal justice system must be prepared in case virtual currency like bitcoins -- which is increasingly becoming popular -- is used in unlawful activities.
The book, titled "Dispatches from Crame I," contains a selection of more than 100 of Sen. Leila de Lima's handwritten statements from her detention at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center, in Quezon City on topics such as EJKs and the war on drugs, governance, and social justice.
