With a new gaming season starting, experts from security firm Kaspersky have found hundreds of phishing pages, aimed at stealing PUBG Mobile accounts.

The National Privacy Commission revealed on Thursday night, Nov. 12, that it has issued a cease and desist order against Lisensya.info, a website that falsely claims to be associated with the Land Transportation Office.

Phishing scammers took advantage of what appeared to be a major blunder by well-known cosplayer and online personality Alodia Gosiengfiao after she asked her legion of fans to post their email addresses in order to join a livestream game.

BPI chief operating officer Ramon Jocson said that most of the attacks are perpetrated by Filipino syndicates that have been taking advantage of the current global health crisis.

In Kaspersky’s phishing statistics for the first half of 2019, it showed the Philippines has the highest percent of phishing victims at 17.3%.
