The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said the digitalization of the civil registry system through tablet-based mode data collection has resulted in a 100-percent accuracy of data collection and timely release of survey results as it eliminated the manual data encoding.
The government has succeeded in selling the idea of a secure, comprehensive ID system that is supposedly long overdue and only has good things to bring to this country. On that premise, the people must hold it to its word and, if necessary, take it to task.
Interestingly, manufacturing activities in the computer and electronics industry slowed down to 96 percent in May 2021 from 108.3 percent in April this year.
Data privacy advocates raised a howl on Thursday, May 27, against the supposed Landbank account that “comes” with every registration of the PhilSys ID, also known as the nation ID.
Some 1.5 million adult Filipinos from low-income families have been registered to the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) after the program was expanded nationwide starting January 18 this year.
PayMaya QR is now offered at PSA’s Central Outlet at East Avenue, Quezon City. PayMaya will also be soon available as a payment method in the online channels of PSA.
The PSA said Philippine identification (PhilID), which will be given free of charge, will not replace the existing functional IDs that serve other purposes.
