Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian is pushing for the bill mandating registration of all users of pre-paid SIM cards in the Senate after scammers managed to charge to his credit card account an online food delivery using a prepaid mobile phone.
Rising device costs are expected to lower SIM card replacement rates contributing to an already challenged SIM card market, according to analyst firm ABI Research.
