Ahead of the 2024 State of the Nation Address, 23 organizations called on Pres. Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. to certify as urgent the proposed “Konektadong Pinoy Act,” also known as the “Open Access in Data Transmission Act,” recently filed as Senate Bill No. 2699 under Committee Report No. 262.
Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. promised in his SONA more improvements in terms of connectivity, stating that the National Fiber Backbone and Broadband ng Masa projects of the DICT will deliver high-connectivity and high-speed Internet.
Both Globe and Smart have complained that the long drawn permitting process across LGUs, homeowner associations, and national agencies has hampered the rollout of cellsites and laying down of fiber to homes.
