A few days after its explosive announcement that the company is now up for sale, Canadian tech firm BlackBerry has announced the launch of the new BlackBerry Q5 smartphone in the Philippines.
The BlackBerry Q5, which will sell for P18,690, is available in just one color — black.
The new smartphone carries BlackBerry’s classic QWERTY keyboard that has been re-engineered for optimized typing on its 3.1? touch-screen. The BlackBerry Q5 run on BlackBerry 10 version 10.1 operating system.
Kristian Salvo, country manager for the Philippines at BlackBerry said, ?We are excited to bring the new BlackBerry Q5 smartphone to the Philippines. The BlackBerry Q5 smartphone offers a great experience to customers who want to have the power of BlackBerry 10 with a QWERTY keyboard.?
The smartphone is equipped with a camera with a Time Shift mode, as well as the BlackBerryStory Maker that is optimized for Facebook. It also features the BBM Video with Screen Share.
To entice local consumers, BlackBerry is running a ?Swap, Switch, and Win? campaign wherein buyers can trade their old mobile phone ? working or non-working — to get a P2,000 discount and the trade-in value of the swapped mobile phone for the new Q5.
The campaign will be conducted in the BlackBerry Mall Caravan located at Glorietta 1, Ground Floor (near SM Makati) and the four BlackBerry stores located at the Cyberzone of SM Mega Mall, SM North EDSA, SM Sta. Rosa and SM Pampanga.
The campaign also allows buyers to win discount coupons from Zalora and to enter a draw for a chance to win the All-New Ford Focus 1.6L PS 4DR Sedan or one of three BlackBerry Z10 smartphones.
The early bird discount will also be available for those who Swap and Switch to a BlackBerry Q5 smartphone at participating stores Fonestyle at SM North EDSA, and BSD International at the SM Mall of Asia.
The mobile phone to be traded in does not need to come with its box or original accessories, nor does it need to be under any warranty. It will be evaluated for its fair market value then this will be deducted from the cost of the BlackBerry smartphone to be purchased.
