With the hot weather pushing Pinoys to turn on their air-conditioners, the Department of Energy (DOE) has launched Wattmatters.org.ph ? a website that informs consumers of ways they can save money and informed of the rate at which their appliances consume electricity.
The online tool allows user to gauge how much electricity they?re consuming, as well as how much this consumption is costing them. The site also provides data on the energy usage of their new appliances, as well as how to properly use the ones they already have.
?Every appliance consumes a certain amount of electricity. A cheaper appliance does not necessarily consume less electricity. More expensive appliances are usually compensated for by their lower rate of energy consumption. The initial additional cost may in fact be an investment for lower monthly bills,? the agency said.
