Saying it wants to spare the public from the hassle of calling or traveling to its head office in Manila and its regional offices just to track their documents, the Department Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has unveiled an online tracking system for business-related documents.
In a statement, DPWH secretary Rogelio Singson said he directed the agency?s Information Management Service to devise the Document Tracking System (DoTS) to comply with Republic Act No. 9485 or the Anti-Red Tape Act (ARTA).
?This means that from now on, tracing documents would no longer be a burden as it allows aptly responding to queries and prompt those offices and personnel involved into action, even identifying the cause of delay,? said Singson.
?We are now implementing a ?no personal? follow-up policy in the department. It is one of our ways to curb corruption in the DPWH,? added Singson.
The agency said contractors, suppliers, consultants, and others who have financial transactions with DPWH will no longer have to go through the conventional process with the implementation of DoTS ? a Web-based portal which answers inquiries regarding business-related documents processing.
With DoTS Online, the DPWH said its external stakeholders may check the status of their documents processing from just about anytime and anywhere.
?The public will just have to log on to www.dpwh.gov.ph/dots, click on ?Search Here?, and enter pertinent information including the DoTS Transaction Code,? it said.
The system will then provide the latest status of the transaction including the routing, current processing stage, date and time received and sent by the processing offices, and target dates of completion on each process.
Singson added that bureaucratic delays would be prevented as DoTS Online offers information transparency by making the documents online and public.
