Philippine Business Bank, controlled by Alfredo Yao, who also owns AirAsia and Zest-O Corp., has won the first round of judging in two of nine categories: Future Thinking and Design Concepts and Innovation and IT Optimization.

The bank, which currently has 102 branches across the Philippines, was considered for the Future Thinking category because it was able to ?develop solutions that will make a real and positive difference to data center operation and management,? DatacenterDynamics APAC Awards said in its description of the category.

Philippine Business Bank was also considered as a finalist in the Innovation and IT Optimization category as the award seeks to ?recognize and reward true innovation in IT optimization that has enabled organisations to successfully re-define the role that the data center performs within their corporate and IT strategy,? DatacenterDynamics said.

Overall, the awards will ?recognize innovation, leadership and ?out of the box? thinking in the data center industry across the Asia Pacific region,? the company added.

The awarding ceremonies will take place on October 17 at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Center in Singapore.

DatacenterDynamics appointed a panel of 40 independent, experienced subject matter experts and data center practitioners to judge the 2014 DatacenterDynamics APAC Awards.
