Israeli-headquartered Internet security firm Check Point recently beefed up its offerings in the local market by announcing SandBlast, a new Advanced Threat Prevention (APT) solution.
The security vendor, which local office is composed of a lean team of marketing professionals, said Check Point SandBlast elevates threat defense by using CPU-level threat detection to uncover threats at the pre-infection level.
Check Point said attackers are increasingly utilizing more sophisticated tools such as new zero-day attack methods and custom variants of existing malware to circumvent traditional sandboxing technology and slip into their victims? infrastructures undetected.
These new attack vectors, the tech firm said, require a proactive approach with modern solutions and technologies that not only catch known threats, but are also able to identify and stop unknown malware the first time it is seen in the wild.
Check Point said its new CPU-level exploit detection engine is capable of identifying the most dangerous, zero-day threats in their infancy, before malware has an opportunity to deploy and even attempt to evade detection.
?The Asia Pacific region is facing a dichotomy of tremendous growth versus technology equivalence, whereby a company may grow very fast and yet its network security infrastructure may struggle to keep up with the growth,? said Steve McWhirter, vice president for Asia, Middle East and Africa at Check Point Software Technologies.
?With the new Check Point SandBlast technology, there is now a much more effective defense against many of the insidious APTs that may plague fast-growing and rapidly expanding enterprises throughout this region.?
At the same time, Check Point announced the Mobile Threat Prevention, a new mobile security solution that allows enterprises to battle mobile threats.
The new mobile solution prevents threats on iOS and Android, and delivers real-time threat intelligence and visibility for extension into existing security and mobility infrastructures.
According to Check Point?s 2015 Security Report, in an organization with more than 2,000 devices on its network, there is a 50-percent chance that there will be at least six infected or targeted mobile devices on their network.
Most organizations are unprepared to deal with the threats that these devices present to their networks because of a lack of tools that provide the right visibility and actionable intelligence, the company said.
The Check Point Mobile Threat Prevention, it said, provides mobile security solution for enterprises that need to manage and mitigate the risks of BYOD (bring your own device) and protect their employees and corporate assets from mobile cyber threats.
The solution detects threats on the device, application and in-network levels and provides a transparent user experience and allows for immediate detection and removal of mobile threats.
?We are experiencing very high adoption rates for mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets from individuals to enterprises, especially in the BYOD paradigm that is increasingly popular throughout Asia Pacific,? said McWhirter.
?We believe the Check Point Mobile Threat Prevention will become an important part of the total security arsenal for our clients throughout this region, as mobile devices become the preferred platform of choice for a highly mobile workforce.?
