P10-M worth of fake Oppo phones seized in Binondo mall raid

Around 1,905 fake Oppo phones worth P10 million were seized by law enforcement agents during an operation in Binondo, Manila on Friday, Feb. 12.

In a statement Monday, Feb. 15, it was learned that the NBI-Intellectual Property Rights Division conducted the raid against Rizomic Store apparently owned by David Rizo Miclat, Jimmy Sy a.k.a. Aron Sy, and Bea Sy.

The bootlegged mobile phones were confiscated in the stalls located at first and fourth floors of the 11/88 Shopping Mall in Reina Regente St. in Binondo.

Seized were 1,905 counterfeit Oppo phones, one unit of printing machine, and two silk-screens with the Oppo logo.

The operation was made possible after the NBI-IPRD obtained search warrants from Judge Maria Victoria A. Soriano-Villadolid of Branch 24 of the Manila regional trial court.

Charges of trademark infringement under the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines or Republic Act 8293 are being prepared against the owners of the raided establishments. — PNA
