According to the statement, Facebook, Microsoft, Twitter, and YouTube are coming together to help curb the spread of terrorist content online.

“There is no place for content that promotes terrorism on our hosted consumer services,” the release stated on Monday.

“When alerted, we take swift action against this kind of content in accordance with our respective policies.”

Each company will use a shared database of digital ?fingerprints? to track down potential terrorism recruitment videos or images, the release added.

“Our companies will begin sharing hashes of the most extreme and egregious terrorist images and videos we have removed from our services ? content most likely to violate all of our respective companies? content policies,” the release stated.

Each social media outlet, the release said, will continue to review any government requests and will retain its own appeals process related to removal decisions.

Facebook said it intends to respect its users and protect their privacy rights while it seeks to prevent the spread of terrorist content online. — PNA/Sputnik
