Ten Philippine companies from the information and communications technology (ICT) industry will be featured in the Philippine Pavilion at CommunicAsia 2017, Asia’s largest ICT industry event slated from May 23-25, 2017 at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore with the theme “Connecting the Future Now”.
This was announced during a press conference for the annual event at the Shangri-La Hotel Makati on April 25, 2017.
CommunicAsia 2017 aims to present to Asian governments and business establishments the necessary, top-of-the-line technologies which will help propel their enterprises, cities, and nations upward and be in sync with global digital transformation.
Engaged in the IT-BPM, telecommunications, finance, and transportation sectors, the 10 local firms will exhibit their products and services to attract potential clients, partners, and investors from the region.
Among these 10 companies are startups Taxumo and FAME Aviation App. Taxumo is a DIY (do-it-yourself) tax assistance software while FAME Aviation boasts of innovations that will make land, air, and sea transport safer.
The others are Advanced World Systems, a software development outsourcing company; Alliance Software, IT services and solutions company; Exist Software Labs, a global technology innovator providing enterprise solutions; PLDT Enterprise, the business arm of PLDT; Red Core Solutions, a specialized and high-end IT corporation; Sutherland Global Services, process transformation company; ThinkBit Solutions, development and design services provider for Web and mobile platforms; and Xurpass Enterprise, provider of pioneering digital platform solutions.
In addition, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) which will lead the Philippine delegation to CommunicAsia 2017, will host a half-day seminar on May 24 dubbed as Philippines Connect.
The seminar will seek to address the developments and opportunities in the Philippine ICT industry and is part of the lineup of events in CommunicAsia which will gather 1,700 exhibitors from 58 countries this year.
“I think the main thing is to bring everybody closer to the Philippines, to bring the companies who are interested to invest to come to the Philippines to see what are the business opportunities, and [bring them] closer to the market,” said Susan Tan, marketing communications director of event organizer UBM SES.
“The Philippines today is actually trying to build the appropriate platform for it to really move forward as an emerging digital economy,” said DICT undersecretary Monchito Ibrahim.
“We are optimistic that our presence in this event will contribute to the success of the exhibitors? businesses that, in return, will help drive the growth of the Philippine economy,” he said in a separate interview.
The opening address at Philippines Connect will be delivered by DICT secretary Rodolfo Salalima. Meanwhile, CommunicAsia will also feature Rohit Talwar, futurist and CEO of Fast Future, who will deliver a talk titled “Artificial Intelligence vs. Genuine Stupidity”, among others.
